We decided to find out Marin’s favorite movie! It was a nice time to get to know our schoolmates a bit better! There was an assortment of movies and the result was that Mamma Mia was Marin’s favorite movie. Mamma Mia is a great film, but is recommended for 4th and 5th graders!

Class Pet Report

by Sydnie

Ms. Makela’s class is raising money to buy a class pet. They are planning to buy a tortoise. Room 12 already has a class pet named Mike. Mike is also a tortoise, but he needs a friend because he is lonely. This is why Ms. Makela’s class is going to get him a friend. So far, they have raised about $160. They have only been raising money for two weeks! Ms. Makela now has just enough money to buy Mike a friend. Hopefully, they will like each other.

Kids Vote to be Allowed on the Room 14 Handball Courts

By Jacob

Did you ever wonder why you can’t play handball on the Room 14 handball courts? I interviewed many kids and found out that lots of students were upset with this rule. The adults doing yard duty also said they didn’t like the rule either! “To me, at lunch recess I would let them play handball there, but during kickball, it’s too crowded,” said Sophie.

I observed that kickball, which isn’t that crowded, is disrupted by mobs of 4th grade students playing tag. Kelly, the other yard duty, said “I think they should be able to play at lunch recess.”

But I also found out that some people say there is just not enough room. Many more people say they don’t like the rule and there are not enough handball courts to play on.

“If handball is too crowded, I would like to play on the other two courts near Room 14,” said Eric, a 5th grader I interviewed. When I talked with the other kids, they all agreed that they want to play handball there, too. In conclusion, kids were eager to play there and want to be allowed to do it.
