About

The Tale-Fin accepts any form of writing by Marin students (poetry, prose, fiction, nonfiction, classroom “news,” etc.)  Work completed in class is fine, as are pieces students write on their own time. Any Marin parent or teacher may submit student writing. Submit as much as you want—if it’s written by Marin kids and appropriate for publication, we’ll use it!  Writing dictated by younger children is welcome.

Submissions need to be typed and emailed (see below).  This is a good at-home job for parent volunteers! Volunteers and teachers should discuss whether and how much to edit student work in typing it. We will generally publish work as submitted (aside from fixing the occasional typo!)

Photographs taken by students are also welcome, as are scans of student artwork (jpg or gif format, please).  Photos of other children may be published if the subject has a photo release on file. Please include the name of the photographer, the name of any child(ren) in the photo, and any caption the photographer wants to provide.

The Tale-Fin will identify students online by first name only.

Send your submission as a .txt file attachment (or in the text of an email) to dolphintalefin@gmail.com.  Do not bother with fonts or formatting—it will all be removed in publication. Make sure to include the author’s name and their teacher’s name. Send image files to the same address with the same subject line. Include the photographer’s name, teacher’s name and student-written caption (if any).

Thank you!
